Impact
- Led the localization and porting effort as Project Director and Tech Lead for the award-winning I Expect You To Die.
- Built solutions for transcribing in-world objects and presenting subtitles in VR.
- Designed a modular, cloud-backed localization pipeline that third-party translators could work in directly.
- The module was reused in Among Us VR and Until You Fall.
The challenge
Localizing a VR game is harder than translating strings: text lives on in-world objects the player picks up and inspects, and subtitles must stay readable without breaking immersion — all while the game is ported and optimized.
What I did
Direction and technical leadership
I was Project Director and Tech Lead for the localization and porting effort, localizing the game into several languages.
Localization in VR
I built solutions for object transcription and subtitles in VR, and optimized the game as part of the port.
A reusable module
I designed the system as a modular Unity localization package backed by cloud services, so data was easy to manage and third-party translators could access it directly.
Outcome
The localization module outlived the project: it was later used in Among Us VR and Until You Fall.
